Information on the Lowcountry Regional EMS Council CTC
Lowcountry Regional EMS Council has been a contracted American Heart Association (AHA) Community Training Center (CTC) for decades. We were one of the first Training Centers established in South Carolina when the AHA implemented them in the early 1990’s. Each Training Center enters into an agreement with the American Heart Association (AHA) to deliver community training programs in Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), Advance Stroke Life Support (ASLS), Basic Life Support (BLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS). The CTC is committed to offering high-quality programs that enhance South Carolina's chain of survival.
One of the primary goals of the American Heart Association is to reduce the number of lives lost to cardiovascular disease and stroke. The CTC helps the AHA achieve its objectives by providing administrative, instructional, and quality assurance assistance to its AHA instructors. We offer provider and instructor courses in ASLS, ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS and Heartsaver courses.
We are welcoming of instructors who desire to transfer to another Training Center! We do not charge a yearly affiliation fee and will rent equipment to affiliated instructors. Please email our CTC Coordinator, Devan Hall at dhall@lowcountryems.com for information on transferring if you recently moved to Charleston, South Carolina, or the surrounding areas and are looking for a new Training Center to transfer to.
Instructor Information: The instructor is responsible for notifying the CTC of any changes in address, phone numbers, via email to aharosters@lowcountryems.com Initial instructors must be monitored within six months of completing the Instructor Course. To renew your instructor status, you must teach four courses in a two-year period (for each discipline taught), attend/participate in any updates scheduled by the CTC, and be monitored by the TC Coordinator, or TC Faculty. Also, please provide the CTC with ample notice (at least 30-60 days prior) of the class you wish to have monitored. This gives the CTC enough time to assign someone to monitor you.
Instructors are reminded that the student-to-instructor ratio is 6:1. Rosters received at a ratio greater than six to one will be returned without cards or credit.
All course completion cards must be delivered to students as soon as feasible, but no later than 20 business days after the course completion date. As a result, rosters and card requests must be submitted to the CTC within 14 days after course completion. All completed forms, rosters and card requests must be submitted to aharosters@lowcountryems.com. We will not take card requests orders over the phone.
