Anatomy and Physiology
Description
This course is designed as the anatomy and physiology prerequisite for the Paramedic curriculum and meets all of the anatomy and physiology objectives of the 1999 U.S. Department of Transportation/NHTSA Paramedic Curriculum. This provides students with a better understanding of the "why's and how's" of the different illnesses and injuries encountered in the field. The course provides EMS personnel the opportunity to solidify the foundation of their medical knowledge in a concentrated, forty-five hour course on human anatomy and physiology.
Paramedic students may exempt this module if they have a passing score in a course taught by a Technical School, College, or University that meets the objectives of the Anatomy and Physiology curriculum. If the student completed the class more than five (5) years prior to the start date of the paramedic class, the student must pass the comprehensive final exam to exempt the Anatomy and Physiology prerequisite. Only one attempt will be allowed.
