BLS Instructor

This course provides instructor candidates with the knowledge and skills necessary to teach Basic Life Support (BLS) courses for health care providers and lay rescuers. BLS Instructors may teach the BLS for Health Care Providers and Heartsaver-level courses including Heartsaver CPR, Heartsaver AED, Heartsaver CPR in Schools, and CPR for Family and Friends.

Description

"The American Heart Association Basic Life Support Instructor Course is designed to provide instructor candidates the knowledge and skills necessary to teach basic life support providers. The course provides instructor candidates the opportunity to develop and refine their presentation and teaching skills and includes the following topics:
AHA ECC educational philosophy
National AHA policies and procedures that affect ECC instructors
Sufficient background information so instructors will comprehend BLS subject matter and be able to answer questions posed by participants in courses
Essential teaching methods
An overview of educational aids available to the instructor for teaching provider courses"
